Ultrasonic Thickness Measurements
Ultrasonic thickness measurements use the properties of ultrasonic waves to inspect materials. Based on the time it takes for a longitudinal wave to pass through a given object, it is possible to calculate the thickness of an element at measuring point. Ultrasonic tests are particularly important for elements which are subject to corrosive processes, that is wherever a change in wall thickness can have a critical impact on a given construction, such as a pipeline or a tank.
