Bubble test leak inspection (LT)
Since gases tend to migrate according to the differential pressures between objects, a bubble test can be performed to detect leaks. In order to perform the test, two the objects need to be connected. One example of bubble method use is inspection of welded connection. Inspections are performed using atmospheric air and by creating under-pressure in a slide-on chamber covering the inspected object. Weld’s capillary leaks form connections between objects with different pressures. By applying foaming agent solution on weld’s surface, we can observe where the atmospheric air penetrates the chamber and thus pinpoint leaks.
