Radiographic testing RT
Radiographic testing is used to detect defects throughout the volume of an inspected element. This method is the most precise non-destructive test. The RT is based on absorption of X-rays and gamma rays by examined materials. RTs produce radiographic images, which can be stored on film or digitally. Images are projected as a two-dimensionally representation of defects. RT is very efficient when inspecting objects with variable thickness and shape. The method is labor-intensive, and the personnel as well as the surroundings need to be protected against ionizing radiation, which increases the costs of RT inspections.
